With continued growth, including active mergers and acquisition, we’re looking for a Construction Inspector to join our team in Tampa, FL.
About the Role
The Construction Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring transportation infrastructure projects such as roadways, intersections, signal systems, and pedestrian facilities are built to design specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations. This position provides on-site inspection, documentation, and coordination support throughout the construction phase, working closely with contractors, engineers, and public agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily site inspections of transportation-related construction projects (e.g., roadways, traffic signals, striping, signage, ADA compliance)
- Verify work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and agency standards (e.g., FDOT, MUTCD)
- Monitor contractor progress, document field activities, and track quantities for pay applications
- Identify and report issues, non-conformances, or safety concerns promptly
- Coordinate with contractors, design engineers, utility providers, and agency representatives to resolve field issues
- Review and process RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders
- Assist in punch list development, final inspections, and project closeout documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized records in accordance with project and client requirements
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- 2–5+ years of experience in construction inspection, particularly in transportation/traffic infrastructure
- Familiarity with state and local transportation standards (e.g., FDOT, MUTCD, local DOTs)
- Experience with construction documentation and field management tools (e.g., SiteManager, Bluebeam, e-Construction platforms)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate and timely reports
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites

Physical Demands
- This role requires regular travel and fieldwork on active construction sites.
- Duties may include light lifting of materials such as safety equipment, laptops or documents.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, boots, and eye protection is required at all times when onsite.
