About the Role
Traffic & Mobility Consultants is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Traffic Analyst or Transportation Planner with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in transportation planning or traffic engineering and be passionate about improving mobility, safety, and infrastructure through data-driven analysis and planning. The Traffic Analyst or Transportation Planner is responsible for providing support in the preparation of transportation planning and traffic engineering studies and traffic-related design plans.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct traffic operations analyses, capacity studies, and transportation impact studies
Develop transportation plans for roadway networks, public transit, sidewalks, trails and active transportation facilities
Collect and analyze traffic data, turning movement counts, and travel time studies
Use traffic operations software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM) to assess traffic conditions and recommend improvements
Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation
Assist with writing grants for state and federal funding opportunities
Collaborate with engineers, planners, and public agencies on transportation planning efforts
Participate in public meetings or stakeholder engagement as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field
2–4 years of experience in traffic analysis, transportation planning, or related field
Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, or similar software
Experience with GIS
Familiarity with traffic data collection methods and interpretation
Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations
Knowledge of land use planning
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) passed highly preferred
- Experience working with private and public agencies or municipalities
- Proficiency in GIS and/or CAD tools is a plus
